Spam Filtering Support for Carr Lane Advertising's E-Mail Servers

Why was I referred to this page?

As of 12/01/2006, Carr Lane Advertising has implemented an improved spam filtering system utilizing the effective open source project SpamAssassin across all email servers. During initial testing, the new software has shown a significantly improved success rate in catching spam before it reaches your inbox. As more time passes, statistics showing how much spam is being filtered will be available for anyone curious to know how the system is doing. Keep in mind this is not an exact science, and many spam messages will still get through ... our main goal is to be able to filter between 80-90% of the spam before you ever see it, which for some users will mean a reduction of hundreds of spam emails per day to have to deal with.

Where does the spam go?

Messages marked as spam are placed in a Junk Email folder in the webmail interface accessible at http://webmail.clstl.com

What do I do if the message marked as spam is a legitimate email?

Every effort has been made to ensure that legitimate email is not falsely marked as spam, but due to the constantly changing tactics used by spammers and difficulty in keeping up with them, in some cases legitimate email may be incorrectly detected as spam. If this happens, in the webmail interface when viewing the message, there is an option to "Unmark as Spam" ... doing this will move the message to your inbox, and in addition it will use this information to help to "train" the antispam scanner and enhance the accuracy of the scanning.

I still have questions about the anti-spam system.

Please contact us with any questions or concerns regarding the spam filtering system, and we will do our best to address your questions and concerns.
